General Characteristics
FKM Properties & Performance Characteristics
Fluoroelastomer rubber (FKM) offers excellent heat resistance up to 600°F, and withstands a wide range of aggressive substances including aliphatic, aromatic, and halogenated hydrocarbons, acids, and both animal and vegetable oils. It is not recommended for use with ketones, low molecular weight esters, or nitro-containing compounds. In addition to its outstanding chemical resistance, FKM can be bonded to metal components through specialized adhesive systems and curing processes. This makes it ideal for high-performance applications such as bonded seals, gaskets, and vibration-dampening parts where durability and chemical resistance are critical.
Benefits of FKM
Common Uses for Fluoroelastomer Rubber
Fluoroelastomer rubber (FKM) is widely used in fuel system seals, gaskets, and O-rings for automotive and aerospace industries. It is also essential for chemical processing equipment, oil and gas applications, and any environment where extreme heat and chemical resistance are critical for performance and safety.
